The hat and the Bear

This is the hat I have completed for the friend...I am still working on the comfortghan...

Now the bear has been featured quite regularly in my pictures. Since I have no munchkins to use as models, I use my Vermont Teddy Bear. Larry bought her for me when I in college getting my teaching degree. Now she comes completely dressed, back then she came with a lace collar, glasses and some tiny books. I still have them all, but took them off of her, as they were getting beat up. I've never named her, she's just The Bear...

Sunday, a little bit of this and that...

Last night I got my crochet mojo back and actually made a hat. I have a friend who is going through chemo now for breast cancer. I am also making a comfortghan, but I lost my mojo about 2 weeks ago and haven't worked on anything since. Last night I made her a hat and this morning I worked on another square...yeah mojo is BACK!!!!

I did a bit of running around today. It is a glorious day outside. It was gorgeous yesterday, too. I stopped by TJ Maxx to pick up some new workout sneaks and yeah! they had Skechers. I also happened upon that little card box of crochet squares for $3.00!!

I wanted to show you Larry's birthday gift. He likes chimes, as you can see, the latest is the big green one. Some of the others have paddles or pipes missing, so yesterday he bought some hemp cord and is going to try to fix them...

I actually went to the gym today too!

When I came home, I sat on the porch swing for a bit, it puts my butt to sleep after a bit....But I heard some munching and took a picture of the squirrel eating upside down!

I have told myself I need to get out more on the weekends, as I tend to hermit. Last weekend I was sick, so I did hermit...The weekend before I was out, this weekend I was out and next weekend is actually pretty busy for me. I will be doing a yarn crawl in NYC on Saturday and up in Mass in Sunday!

I forgo to take a pic of the hat, so I will post that later...

New Yarnz....

Since joining The Completely and Arbitrary Swap group on Ravelry, I have come to buy and enjoy more "snotty" yarns...I have started adding them to my stash....and I'm really love them...Now, don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the lower-end yarns, but wowza, the snooty yarns are gorgeous! They are usually dyed by indepedent dyers..

Today I received two new orders: Dragonfly Fibers Djinni Sock yarn in Blue Spruce and Mountain Colors in Daybreak...these were from The Loopy Ewe I also received my first Sundara yarn today. It is sock yarn in Carnival Caper. I am waiting for a skein of the Cherry Blossom, which will come in April.

No pictures for today, but I have lots of pics on my photobucket account and at Rav...

Forgot the Picture!

I was so happy that I finally did a linky thing, I hit post before I put the picture in...

Beautiful Day

Today was a beautiful day here in New England. It was almost 60 degrees, bright blue sky and shining sun.

I ran out and posted some packages, then did a few errands...

I picked up a new green jug at a local nursery. I admire Lucy of attic24 and her fresh flowers about the house. I really don't have alot of places to put fresh flowers, but if I can keep the dining room table cleared off, I'm going to keep some there. I picked up a small bunch of flowers and am very happy with it. The purple doily was gifted to me from a swap on Crochetville. Lori (aka the Shrone) sent me several and they are gorgeous!

My Netbook

A couple of weeks ago I purchased a netbook. I had been looking at them online, so Larry and I finally went shopping for one. I really only want it for getting online, so I didn't need a big package with it. We debated a full laptop versus the netbook, but then went with the netbook. I got a ASUS Eee PC and I love it! It is red, which I love too. I even bought a red bag for it! It is small and easy to use. The only bad thing is that I went with Verizon as the online carrier and it is a dead zone at school. I can use it in the lunch room, but not in the classroom or library. But I use it every day and really love the ease of use. I'm not familiar with everything on it yet, but I'm sure that will come....

Things That Make Me Smile

Yesterday I had to do some running around to buy some last minute things for the Surprise Me Swap on Ravelry. Larry decided to go with me. He was exhausted when we finished...I love to shop...We started out at Creative Fibers in Windsor. They were having a Berrocco trunk show. I bought 2 skeins of Berrocco Vintage for myself in a heathery green. Also got a great button from Lantern Moon and a few things to stick in my swap packages. Then we went to Borders. I got the new issue of Inside Crochet, which is a UK magazine. It's on the expensive side, but I like looking through British mags. Also bought a couple of books...Then ended up at TJ Maxx, where I got some gifties for some babies I know and a friend, saw something that was perfect for her..Then to a local Hallmark store where I found a chick that has sunglasses and a shirt that reads Eggstra Cool, when you press his wing he says, "Cool Dude." It makes me smile. A friend was going to see Jeff Dunham and she bought me a Peanut doll. Larry and I love Jeff Dunham. Peanut say, " Jeffafa Dunham dot com." He makes me smile. A couple of weeks ago I bought the boy sheep at TJ Maxx. He makes me smile, I think of him as my Irish sheep, cuz of the little green hat. Well I hadn't bought the girl sheep, but Larry told me I had to go back and get her. LAst week I received a surprise box from a friend I made oat Crochetville, Fiona. She lives in Arizona. Every once in awhile, we just send each other packages of fun things. I love the stuffed chicken. I owe her a package, as I think she has sent me two now and I've only sent back a little something. So these are some things that make me smile...Surprise packages, yarn, books, magazines, spending time with hubby and fun stuffed animals (I do not have alot of stuffed animals, but every once in awhile)

The Last Two Things I Made......

I haven't crocheted in awhile because my hands have been achey...I think because we have been having so much rain....They are feeling better now, so I can start working on some of my WIP's (works in progress)...but here are the last two things I finished...a chullo hat for my friend's son, Kia. He just turned one. He is adorable. I also finished a pair of fingerless gloves. I did not follow patterns for either one, but just kinda fudged them. Kia's hat could have been a little longer and I think the gloves, I started with a bigger hook...

NYC in the snow!

For the past couple of Saturdays, a few of us have been attending workshops at Bank Street College in NYC. This Saturday was the last workshop. One of our tasks was to recreate a photo that we had been given. It was alot of fun... We then went downtown and ate at Dallas BBQ and just walked around for a bit. I ghad a great time with them. Check out the amount of snow the city got! Wow!
